One such case unfolded in California, where a backyard breeder discarded a litter of newborn puppies.
When a woman received a call about a puppy barely three days old, she dropped everything. The entire litter was struggling to survive, desperately in need of urgent help.
Fighting To Survive Since Day One

Clanay Reza, a giant-hearted animal lover and an independent rescuer from California, got a call from a breeder’s neighbor who asked her if she could help.
At the time, an entire litter of puppies was struggling to survive beneath their deceased mother, who had tragically bled to death. Among them, Lucky was the weakest—no bigger than a baby hamster.
Despite having no chance of survival, Reza refused to give up. She fed him formula every 20 minutes, barely sleeping in those critical first days.
“I never knew if tomorrow was promised for him. During Lucky’s first eight weeks, I hardly slept. I stayed up watching him, making sure he was still alive and breathing,” Clanay shared on Instagram.

Sadly, Lucky’s siblings didn’t survive, leaving him as the only one with a chance to fight for his life.

After weeks of relentless care, Lucky was finally out of immediate danger, but his health struggles were far from over. As his eyes began to open, he was diagnosed with a yeast infection and a corneal ulcer, which led to the removal of one eye.
“We found out he was blind in one eye and had a puncture along with a corneal ulcer. As he grew, the ulcer worsened and started causing him pain, so at four months old, we had to remove his eye,” Clanay shared.
At just ten weeks old, Lucky was diagnosed with albinism, a condition caused by a recessive gene resulting from inbreeding.
His first year was nothing short of an uphill battle. He lost his mother and siblings, faced countless health challenges, and endured setback after setback—but he never lost his will to live.
“He’s had a rollercoaster of a life in his first year, but I’m grateful for every bump in the road. They only made my love for him grow stronger,” Clanay wrote.
