Cheesecake, a tiny stray puppy, was found wandering the streets of Oklahoma before being rescued by A Friend of Jack.

Since Iliana lived in Denver, Cheesecake had to take a flight from Oklahoma to meet her new foster mom. But the little pup didn’t mind one bit—she seemed to know a brighter future was waiting for her.
“At that stage, our main focus is simply ensuring the new foster feels safe, starts eating well, gains some weight, and gets plenty of rest,” Iliana shared.

Cheesecake quickly settled into her new home, but Iliana began to notice something unusual about her foster pup.
“I realized she was showing early signs of pregnancy,” Iliana explained. “I reached out to the team at A Friend of Jack to ask if they had any information about her being pregnant. They assured me there was no indication of that but suggested I take her to the vet for a scan just to be sure.”
At the vet, imaging showed no visible puppies, leaving everyone puzzled.

Convinced by the vet’s assessment that Cheesecake wasn’t pregnant, Iliana brought her home. However, something in her gut told her to stay vigilant, so she decided to keep a close eye on her sweet foster pup.

As time went on, Cheesecake’s belly grew noticeably larger, and Iliana couldn’t shake the feeling that something was definitely going on.
Trusting her instincts, Iliana suspected that Cheesecake had been in the very early stages of pregnancy during her first vet visit, which might have explained why the scans showed nothing.

“The imaging showed so many puppies that even the vets couldn’t agree on a number,” Iliana said with a laugh. “One guessed nine, another said ten, and we all just chuckled at how chaotic the scan looked. It was clear Cheesecake was about to have her paws full!”
New Mom
Just a week later, with Iliana’s loving support, Cheesecake gave birth to nine adorable and healthy puppies.
Sticking with the sweet theme, the tiny litter was given names inspired by popular cheesecake flavors: Mocha, Oreo, Pumpkin, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cocoa, Fudge, Vanilla Bean, and Turtle. Each little pup was as delightful as their namesake!

Unfortunately, shortly after delivering her nine precious puppies, Cheesecake became seriously ill. Weak and unwell, she was unable to nurse or care for her newborns. It was a heartbreaking turn of events, but Iliana stepped in, determined to ensure the little ones received the care and nourishment they needed to thrive.
Once again, Iliana stepped up for Cheesecake and her little ones. With the help of her partner, she began bottle-feeding each and every puppy around the clock.
Despite the exhausting schedule and countless sleepless nights, Iliana didn’t mind one bit. Her dedication and love for Cheesecake and her pups kept her going, ensuring every tiny pup had the chance to grow strong and healthy.

After everything they had been through together, Iliana and her partner knew they couldn’t say goodbye to Cheesecake. The bond they had formed was simply unbreakable.
