One heartbreaking case in California involved a litter of puppies discarded by a backyard breeder.
When a woman received a call about a puppy barely three days old, she dropped everything to help. The entire litter was clinging to life, desperately in need of immediate care.
Fighting To Survive Since Day One

Clanay Reza, a compassionate animal lover and independent rescuer from California, received a call from a neighbor of the breeder, pleading for her help.
At the time, an entire litter of puppies was struggling to survive beneath their deceased mother, who had tragically bled to death. Among them was Lucky, the smallest and weakest of the group, no larger than a baby hamster.
Despite being given no chance to live, Clanay Reza refused to give up on him. She tirelessly fed him formula every 20 minutes, barely getting any sleep in those critical first days.
“I never knew if tomorrow was promised for him. Lucky’s first eight weeks of life, I hardly slept. I stayed up watching him, making sure he was still alive and breathing,” Clanay shared on Instagram.

Tragically, Lucky’s siblings didn’t survive, leaving him as the sole survivor with a fighting chance.

After weeks of tireless care, Lucky was finally out of immediate danger, but his battle was far from over. He faced a host of ongoing health challenges. As his eyes began to open, he was diagnosed with a yeast infection and a corneal ulcer, which eventually led to the removal of one eye.
“We found out he was blind in one eye and actually had a puncture along with a corneal ulcer. As he grew older, the ulcer and puncture worsened, causing him pain. So, at 4 months old, we decided to remove his eye,” Clanay explained.
At just ten weeks old, Lucky was diagnosed with albinism, a condition caused by a recessive gene linked to inbreeding.
His first year of life was nothing short of an uphill battle. He lost his siblings and his mother and faced numerous challenges, but through it all, Lucky’s determination to live never wavered.
“He’s had a rollercoaster of a life during his first year, but I’m thankful for all the bumps in the road we faced with him. They only made my love for him grow stronger,” Clanay shared.
