Sadly, not all animals experience a happy life filled with love, care, and exciting adventures. Many are left to face the harsh realities of life on the streets, while others endure the even greater hardship of being part of a family that neglects them.
Terry and his brother, the pups in today’s story, endured this heartbreaking reality. Chained to a rooftop for over two years, they were exposed to relentless weather, which not only altered their once-joyful personalities but also drastically changed their appearance.
Years of neglect left their fur long, filthy, and severely matted, rendering them almost unrecognizable.
Fortunately, their story was about to take a turn for the better.
Finally Rescued

A neighbor finally decided to call the authorities and rescue the poor brothers. Soon after, an animal rescue team was on the scene.
“The dogs had incredibly matted fur. You can’t even begin to understand how they had been feeling up there for so long,” a rescuer from West Coast Paws Dog Rescue, Zoë, told The Dodo.
The brave brothers were immediately brought to the West Coast shelter and were given a well-needed haircut and bath.
In just a matter of hours, they showed everybody how handsome they really were.

After receiving fresh haircuts, the duo visited the vet for a full check-up. Once they were given a clean bill of health, Terry and his brother were placed up for adoption through West Coast Paws.
“We had Terry listed for adoption for nearly seven months before we got any applications for him,” shared Zoë. “[His] age was a big factor in why people weren’t applying.”
New Life
Despite the long wait, neither the staff nor the brothers lost hope, confident that the perfect family would reach out when the time was right.
And that’s exactly what happened!
While browsing the shelter’s website, a couple named Lee and Danny stumbled upon Terry’s adoption listing. It was love at first sight. Without hesitation, they headed to the shelter, determined to bring him home.
“We gravitated toward Terry partly because they were struggling to find him a home,” Lee shared with The Dodo. “There was just something about him that touched my heart. Seeing the little rags on the rooftop and then meeting him in the shelter, all fluffy and happy—I knew I could give him a good life.”
With his tail wagging excitedly, little Terry packed his bags and embarked on his journey home, boarding not one but two planes to get there. Alongside his caretakers, Ariane and Tami, this brave pup couldn’t contain his joy throughout the entire flight.
“Thankfully, everything went really smoothly. All the flights were on time,” Ariane told The Dodo.
The moment Terry landed, he was welcomed by his new parents and a pile of exciting dog toys waiting just for him.
Terry, now renamed Teddy, was finally home!
“[I] couldn’t be happier. I’m just thrilled with how quickly he’s latched onto us. It’s gonna be fun!” Danny said, beaming as he greeted Teddy at the airport.

After settling into his new home, Teddy blossomed into his true self, shedding his past and embracing his new life. Now, he’s full of energy and joy, behaving more like a playful puppy than a seven-year-old dog.
“I think his future is one filled with plenty of human companionship,” Danny shared. “We’re just so happy to have Teddy share the rest of his life with us as a part of our family.”
