A man returning home to Detroit noticed movement in the abandoned house next door. Curious, he went to check it out and found an adorable dog, sadly chained to the house.

The man quickly called for help, and Rebel Dogs Detroit was eager to respond. They sent volunteer Tiffany Perkins to investigate, and as soon as she laid eyes on the little pup, who would later be named Beaker, her heart melted.
“Beaker was shy and hid behind the garage, peeking out as I called for him. As I got closer, his tail started wagging, and he leaned into me for some petting — looking visibly relieved. He ‘meeped’ like a muppet, so excited, which is how he got his name!” Tiffany recalled.
Though Beaker had spent so much time alone, chained up, he was understandably scared of the human approaching him. But it didn’t take long for him to realize Tiffany was there to help!

Tiffany quickly unchained Beaker from the house, and the little pup couldn’t contain his excitement. He was overjoyed to finally be free.
Unfortunately, Tiffany noticed that Beaker still had the chain tangled around his neck. Realizing the urgency, she rushed him to the vet for a thorough checkup.
At The Vet
As the vets prepared for surgery, Tiffany took the opportunity to bond with Beaker even further, showering him with the love he had long been deprived of, but certainly deserved.

“We had plenty of bonding time in the car while waiting for his surgery for over five hours. He ended up napping with his head in my lap,” Tiffany said.
Despite everything Beaker had endured, he didn’t let it stop him from enjoying himself and soaking up all the love he was finally receiving.
Thankfully, the surgery was a success, and Beaker was taken to a foster home to continue his recovery.

Beaker has clearly left his past life behind, embracing his new one surrounded by people who care for him and continue to shower him with love.
“He’s learning how to be an indoor dog, surrounded by unconditional love in his foster home,” Tiffany shared.

Beaker is fully healed now and is ready to find his forever home. He’d love a family with another energetic dog to enjoy long walks and playdates full of endless fun.
