When Grommett was first discovered by local Animal Control officers in Florida, they were stunned by his condition.
He was swiftly taken to the Animal Control facility, where they began assessing the best course of action for his recovery.
Ultimately, the officers decided to transfer Grommett to the Humane Society of Broward County for further care.

He arrived in a heartbreaking condition, with numerous injuries and medical issues that required urgent attention.
I can’t begin to understand how someone could be so cruel, neglecting a dog to the point where he ended up in such a terrible state. It’s truly unfathomable.

The rescuers had little information about Grommett’s past, but there was strong evidence suggesting he had spent most of his life confined to a cage.
Susan Leonti, a staff member at the shelter, told Newsweek: “Grommett arrived severely emaciated with signs of neglect throughout his body, including overgrown nails and scalding on his legs and feet from standing in his own urine.”
These conditions caused him significant discomfort, but the veterinarians were fully prepared to provide the care he needed.
Under the care of the Humane Society of Broward County, Grommett is on the path to recovery, learning what it means to live a normal, loving life.

After veterinarians addressed his most urgent health issues, Grommett was placed in a medical foster home in Florida, where he could receive dedicated care and attention.
There, he has already begun his healing journey, making remarkable progress each day.
Although Grommett will remain in his rescuers’ care for a while longer, he will eventually be placed on an adoption list, where he’ll have the chance to find a loving family who will truly care for him.
