When puppies are born, they rely on their mother’s love and care to grow into happy, healthy dogs.
Unfortunately, not all puppies get the chance to stay with their mom and receive the nurturing they need.
Koby, a Pit Bull mix, was one of those pups. Separated from his mother at a crucial stage, he and his siblings were abandoned outside a South Carolina shelter. Their owners, breeders, had discarded them simply because they weren’t purebred Pit Bulls.
The tiny siblings longed to snuggle up beside their mother, but instead, they were curled up in a cardboard box, hoping for someone to show them kindness and love.

The shelter staff immediately took the puppies in upon discovering them.
Knowing they were in a high-risk kill shelter, Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue, a New York-based non-profit, stepped in to save the siblings and provide them with a second chance.
In 2021, a newlywed couple, Steven and Jessica, decided to adopt a dog and visited the rescue in search of their perfect companion.
A sweet tan Pit Bull puppy named Koby instantly captured Steven and Jessica’s hearts the moment they met him.
The bond was immediate—Koby felt safe and connected as soon as they held him in their arms for the first time.

That very day, the couple brought Koby home, giving him the forever family he had been waiting for.

Koby needed time to adjust to his new home. During his first few nights, the little pup struggled to sleep, feeling uncertain in his new surroundings.
Hoping to comfort him, his parents bought him a special stuffed animal that was warm and had a heartbeat. It worked—Koby snuggled up to the toy, finding the security he needed to finally rest peacefully.
Koby is pure love. He adores curling up in his dad’s lap and snuggling with him on the couch, always seeking warmth and affection.

Before Koby came into their lives, Steven had no idea how much Pit Bulls love to cuddle with their humans.
Steven and Jessica poured their hearts into raising Koby, treating him like their own child.
The lovable pup wants to be by their side at all times and feels sad whenever he can’t be with them.

Steven and Jessica both noticed the impact of Koby being separated from his mother at such a young age. He had longed for her warmth and love.
In return, Koby gives his human parents all of his unconditional love.
When Jessica became pregnant, the sweet pup became incredibly protective of her. He stayed by her side, always making sure she was safe and cared for.
Koby often rested his head on his mom’s baby bump, offering comfort and companionship.
Though he adores his mom, his heart belongs to his dad. Every day, the gentle pup sits on the couch, gazing out the window, eagerly waiting for Steven to return from work.
The moment he hears the door, Koby dashes to greet him, showering him with endless hugs and kisses.
To Steven, Koby is more than just a pet—he’s like a son. He cherishes the warm welcome he gets every time he walks through the door. For both Steven and Jessica, life without their beloved boy is simply unimaginable.

“He’s become such an important part of my every day. If I have a tough day at work, it’s nice coming home to a beautiful wife, but it’s also nice coming home to somebody that you know is guaranteed gonna greet you with excitement and hugs and kisses,” Steven shared.

Now, the sweet pup has taken on a new role—proud big brother. He watches over his baby sister with love and care, always looking out for her like the protective, devoted pup he is.
