Abandoned Dog Left In A Doghouse Rejoices When He Finds His New Mom

Being a dog owner takes dedication and effort, but the reward is an incredible bond with your best friend.

Not everyone is suited for this responsibility—if someone lacks the patience to properly care for a dog, they shouldn’t adopt one.

This story follows a dog who was heartlessly abandoned by his owners, left behind in a doghouse with nowhere to go.

Bo’s In A Horrible Condition

When Bo was first rescued by the Street Dog Rescue in Oklahoma, he was already suffering from several health issues that needed immediate attention.

Bo’s owners had heartlessly abandoned him in a doghouse, leaving him to fend for himself. He had been alone ever since.

Faith, one of the rescuers, shared with The Dodo, “Bo was actually attacked by coyotes. He was never taken to a vet, not even before that. He just had mange all over him.”

The rescuers offered him food, and it was clear he hadn’t eaten in days. From the way he interacted with them, Faith could tell all he wanted was love and care.

But after eating, Bo retreated into his doghouse and refused to come out. The rescuers soon realized they would have to gently pull him out to help him.

They finally got Bo out of the doghouse, only for him to crawl underneath it. Once again, Faith and the rescue team tried to coax him out gently, but he refused to move.

It took nearly 45 minutes of patience and care before they were able to free him. Faith recalled, “Finally, we were able to get him out. He actually ended up with the rescue, Pyr Paws and Fluffy Tails.”

On his journey to recovery, Bo was taken to a veterinary clinic in Oklahoma, where he received treatment for his mange and proper nutrition to help him regain his strength.

When his future mom, Patricia, saw his photo for the first time, she was heartbroken. “He looked so terrible, I didn’t even think he was a dog,” she admitted.

But with time, care, and love, Bo’s condition steadily improved. A few months later, he was unrecognizable—a healthy, happy dog with a second chance at life.

The rescuers knew Bo deserved a loving and responsible owner. Patricia, who had experience working with rescue dogs, felt she was the right person to give him the home he needed.

Even after arriving at his new home, Bo took time to adjust. Patricia recalled, “It took maybe six months for him to really realize that this was his home.”

But with patience and love, everything changed. Over time, Bo transformed into a joyful dog who loved exploring his surroundings, finally embracing the life he deserved.

“I just love him, and I’m very happy I got him,” Patricia shared.

Despite his past trauma and initial hesitation around new people, Patricia’s kindness reassured him that he was safe, loved, and exactly where he belonged.
