Iris, a gentle little pup, was heartbroken and confused after being abandoned in a park by her family.
Fearful of the coyotes lurking nearby, she wandered the streets, searching for safety.
Eventually, she arrived at a home in a Southern California neighborhood and found refuge in the yard.
A Good Human Wins The Pup’s Heart

Worried about the dog’s safety, the homeowner reached out to Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy, for help.
Hall immediately drove to the family’s address after receiving the call.
When she arrived, she saw the abandoned pup trembling with fear and sorrow.
Speaking with the neighbors, Hall learned that they had attempted to capture the frightened dog.

Feeling hurt and betrayed, the pup refused to trust humans and kept her distance, not allowing anyone to get close.
“Everyone tried so hard, but she was so scared. When I pulled up … I could literally feel her fear and sadness,” Hall shared on Facebook.
With a storm on the way, she knew time was running out. Acting quickly, she set up a humane trap, placing treats inside a crate and waiting for the nervous pup to come closer.
Iris, as she was later named, cautiously approached the crate. Though she was beginning to trust Hall, she remained too timid to step inside.
Realizing the frightened pup needed space, Hall decided to drive away, hoping it would encourage Iris to enter on her own.
At that moment, Iris’ reaction took Hall by surprise and touched her heart.
“[S]he ran after my van. She knew I was safe, and she knew I was there to save her,” Hall shared.
Wasting no time, she quickly stepped out of her car.
Using baby gates, she carefully guided Iris into the crate—a strategy that worked perfectly.
The Sweet Pup Is Finally Safe

As soon as Hall saw Iris safely inside the crate, relief washed over her, and the neighbors shared in her joy.
She gently approached the pup, offering soothing words to reassure her that she was finally safe.
But Iris, still unaware that her life was about to change, gazed up at her rescuer with sorrowful brown eyes, carrying the weight of her past.
Hall gently lifted Iris into her arms and placed her in the front seat of her van.
As she drove to the hospital, she kept checking on the exhausted pup.
Seeing Iris finally able to rest, peacefully asleep beside her, Hall felt a wave of emotion wash over her, bringing her to the verge of tears.

Iris was sound asleep, her head resting gently on the seat’s armrest. She clasped her paws together as if in prayer, a sight that deeply moved Hall.
“It felt like she was really praying. She went through so much, and it really felt like she was so grateful,” Hall told The Dodo.
When they arrived at Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California, the staff warmly welcomed the sweet pup. It didn’t take long for her to steal their hearts with her gentle nature.
While many shelter dogs reach their paws through kennel bars in hopes of finding a home, Iris’s delicate, prayer-like pose was something truly special.
Iris received a thorough medical checkup and was found to be in excellent health.
Her rescuer then placed her in a loving foster home, where she finally feels safe, cherished, and cared for.
Now, Iris is enjoying the warmth and comfort of a home, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Hopefully, this sweet girl will soon find her forever family—one that will treasure her and shower her with the love she truly deserves.
