Some moments in life are truly unforgettable, and one of the best is the simple joy of petting a dog.
Whether you’re running your fingers through soft, fluffy fur or gently stroking a silky, floppy ear, this feeling is pure happiness—unmatched by anything else.
But this joy isn’t exclusive to humans. Believe it or not, there’s one affectionate dog who absolutely loves petting other pups.
And he’s not shy about showing his sweet gesture for everyone to see.
They Were Confused, But Loved It

Ruby, a German Shorthair Pointer, regularly visits The Den Doggy Daycare with her canine brother, Miles. But Ruby isn’t your typical playful pup when it comes to making friends.
Rather than bouncing around or chasing her furry pals, she has a unique approach—she pets them.

As unusual as it sounds, Ruby just can’t seem to keep her paw to herself. Her doggy friends are often puzzled at first, but she always gently reaches out a paw, almost as if she’s saying, “Hello there!” Then, with the grace of an experienced dog owner, she starts petting them.
Most pups end up loving Ruby’s sweet gesture—and some even come back for more!
Alanah Lorraine, a regular visitor to The Den Doggy Daycare with her dog Lexy, was one of the first to notice Ruby’s unique behavior.
“She does it every time she’s here,” Lorraine shared with The Dodo. “We think she just wants attention!”

Lorraine couldn’t resist capturing some of these adorable moments whenever she found herself in the right spot.
After gathering enough clips, she compiled them into a heartwarming video and shared it on her TikTok profile. It didn’t take long for the video to become an internet sensation.
“I thought it would be adorable,” Lorraine said, “but I never imagined it would go viral.”
The Video Caused Numerous Reactions
In no time, the video racked up thousands of views, likes, and shares. And, as often happens with such heartwarming content, it quickly caught the attention of several popular websites.

The video also sparked some interesting conversations on Reddit.
User CertainlyForgetful shared, “My dog does the same. About half the time it’s because he wants to play, and the other half is because he’s either trying to get their attention or wants them to calm down.”
Another user, ThePelicanWalksAgain, added, “Occasionally, the dog is mimicking a human action, but usually when you see this, the dog is trying to see if the other dog wants to play! It’s similar to them doing a play bow or shoving their butt in another dog’s face.”
User Clever_Userfame shared an interesting perspective, claiming a dog trainer explained this behavior as “minor dominance behavior” and noted that it’s “sometimes used to start play.”
But beyond the “professional discussion” about what causes this adorable habit, most comments focused on the charm of the scene itself, with many users simply describing it as heart-melting.
In the end, Ruby proved that even dogs can sometimes express affection in ways we often consider uniquely human.
She’s not just a sweet pup—she’s a reminder of the pure kindness animals are capable of. And perhaps, Ruby can serve as an example for people who might need a little reminder about how to treat these loving creatures with the care and respect they deserve.
