An Abandoned And Heartbroken Pup Tied To A Bench Hopes That Someone Will Notice Him

If dogs could talk, they’d ask for endless love and daily cuddles. Their happiest place is always in their family’s arms.

It breaks my heart to know that so many dogs are mistreated and denied the love and happiness they deserve.

This is the story of Gordough—a sweet dog who was abandoned and left tied to a park bench, confused and alone.

Imagining his sorrow as he watched his owners walk away is truly heartbreaking. With hopeful eyes, he waited for them to return, but they never did.

Even in his sadness, Gordough held onto hope that someone kind would notice him and offer him warmth and care.

Rescuers from the Austin Humane Society in Texas were stunned when they discovered a large Pit Bull mix tied to a bench, his eyes filled with sorrow and silent pleas for help.

The moment they saw him, they knew he was unwell.

“He was… crusty from head to toe. He had infections in his skin and eyes and desperately needed medicated baths, eye drops, and ointments to heal,” the 15/10 Foundation shared on Facebook.

Despite his pain, the pup’s tail began wagging with excitement the moment he saw the rescuers approaching.

They gently stroked his head, and in that instant, he knew—these were the heroes he had been waiting for. Now named Gordough, he gazed at them with eyes full of affection and gratitude as they freed him from the bench.

The rescuers immediately took Gordough to the shelter, where he quickly won over everyone he met.

Despite his size—tipping the scales at 115 pounds—his gentle and loving nature stole the hearts of the shelter staff.

“Gordough is a big guy, but he has a sweet and gentle demeanor,” the Austin Humane Society shared on Instagram.

His caregivers carefully bathed him, soothing his irritated skin with healing ointments. Despite everything he had endured, Gordough remained incredibly patient, as if he knew he was finally in safe hands.

“Gordough is kind of like one of those reclining happy Buddha statues come to life. The zen master is an inspiration to couch potatoes everywhere,” the Austin Humane Society shared with the 15/10 Foundation, later posting it on Facebook.

His rescue story quickly gained traction on social media, capturing the hearts of many—including the 15/10 Foundation, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to providing medical care for shelter dogs in need.

The organization stepped in to cover Gordough’s medical expenses, ensuring he received the care he desperately needed. Thanks to their support, he was finally able to get the proper treatment and a fresh start.
