When puppies are born, they rely on their mother’s love and care to grow into happy, healthy dogs.
Unfortunately, some puppies miss out on the chance to be nurtured by their mom during their early days.
Koby, a Pit Bull mix puppy, was separated from his mother at a time when he needed her the most.
His owners, who were breeders, abandoned Koby and his siblings outside a South Carolina shelter simply because they weren’t purebred Pit Bulls.
Longing for the warmth of their mother, the tiny siblings huddled together in a cardboard box, waiting for someone to show them kindness and love.

The shelter staff quickly took the puppies in as soon as they discovered them.
Since they were placed in a kill shelter, Ollie’s Angels Animal Rescue, a New York-based non-profit, stepped in to rescue the siblings and provide them with a chance at a better life.
In 2021, a newlywed couple, Steven and Jessica, were looking to adopt a dog and visited the rescue in hopes of finding their perfect match.
The moment Steven and Jessica met Koby, a sweet tan Pit Bull puppy, he instantly stole their hearts.
As soon as they held him in their arms, Koby felt an undeniable bond with them.
“The first time we got to hold him, he just sunk in our arms,” Steven shared with GeoBeats Animals.
That very day, the couple brought Koby home, giving him the loving forever family he had been waiting for.

Koby needed time to adjust to his new home. During his first few nights, the little puppy struggled to sleep.
Hoping to ease his anxiety, his parents got him a special stuffed animal that provided warmth and mimicked a heartbeat.
It worked. Koby found comfort in his new toy, helping him feel safe and at ease in his forever home.
Koby is pure love. He adores curling up in his dad’s lap and snuggling with him on the couch, always craving affection and closeness.

Before Koby came into their lives, Steven had no idea just how much Pit Bulls love to cuddle with their humans.
Steven and Jessica poured all their love into Koby, raising him like their own child.

Steven and Jessica both noticed how deeply Koby had been affected by being separated from his mother at such a young age. He longed for the warmth and love he never got to experience.
Despite his rough start, Koby gives his human parents all his unconditional love.
When Jessica was pregnant, the sweet pup became especially protective, always staying by her side to make sure she was safe and well.
Koby often rested his head on his mom’s baby bump, sensing the new life growing inside her.
Although he adores his mom, his heart belongs to his dad. Every day, the gentle pup sits by the window, eagerly watching for Steven to return home from work.
The moment Steven walks through the door, Koby sprints to greet him, showering him with endless hugs and kisses.
To Steven, Koby is more than just a pet—he’s like a son. He cherishes the way Koby welcomes him home, and both he and Jessica can’t imagine their lives without their beloved boy.

“He’s become such an important part of my every day. If I have a tough day at work, it’s nice coming home to a beautiful wife, but it’s also nice coming home to somebody that you know is guaranteed gonna greet you with excitement and hugs and kisses,” Steven shared.
Koby even shares glimpses of his dream life on Instagram, where he updates his followers about his adventures with his loving family.
The sweet pup has also taken on a new role—proud big brother to his human sister. He watches over her with love and care, always by her side, proving that his heart is as big as ever.
