Tyson was one of the most heartbroken dogs I had ever seen. When the dedicated team from Twenty Paws Rescue in Brooklyn, New York, arrived to take him in, he crawled into his crate and refused to come out.
Fear and loneliness had drained him, leaving him too weak to move. But the experienced rescuers knew that healing takes time—and that love and patience could help mend even the deepest wounds.

They gave Tyson the time he needed to understand that he was safe. Eventually, he allowed them to take him out of the only home he had ever known.
Losing his owner had taken a heavy toll on him. Tyson was not only diagnosed with anemia but also suffered from a broken heart. He refused to eat, avoided other dogs, and spent all his time curled up in his crate, too grief-stricken to face the world.
Tyson needed more than just care—he needed someone who truly understood his pain. And that someone was Laura.
Learning How To Love Again
The team at Twenty Paws Rescue found the perfect foster mom for Tyson—Laura. A dedicated volunteer and true dog lover, she did everything she could to help him feel safe and at peace. And after just a few days, her patience and kindness started to pay off—Tyson was finally beginning to heal.
With her gentle approach and the perfect mix of love and patience, Laura helped Tyson take his first steps toward healing. He started eating again, and before long, he was showering his new mom with the softest kisses and cuddling nonstop.
As time passed, Tyson ventured outside, slowly rediscovering the joy of playing with other dogs. Bit by bit, this senior boy came out of his shell, showing that he was finally ready to trust a human again.

The team at Twenty Paws Rescue tried reaching out to Tyson’s owner’s family, but no one was able to take him in.
Then, Sarah appeared. A kind-hearted animal lover, she reached out to TPR and offered to give Tyson the forever home he deserved—and it turned out to be the best decision ever.
From the moment she walked into the facility, Tyson lit up. He didn’t just like her—he adored her instantly.
“He’s been through so much, and you always hope things work out for them. But when they connect like this right away, it’s just a beautiful feeling,” said Rachel, one of the volunteers.

He literally melted into Sarah’s arms and welcomed her with his paws and heart wide open!
“I will totally miss him. It’s so sweet though. It just makes me really happy to see him happy,” says Laura.
Seeing Tyson finding “the one” after so much pain was very emotional and tear-jerking. Rachel and Laura were crying tears of joy, so happy to be able to see this amazing dog find his forever home.
“I’m excited to welcome him into my life and just watch him get more comfortable and realize that, you know, this is my final stop. This is where I live now, and this is home,” says Sarah.
After all this time, Tyson has finally picked up where he left off and embarked on a wonderful journey with his new momma.
