Sadly, not every dog owner treats their pups with the love they deserve.
It’s heartbreaking to know that some people can hurt a dog’s feelings and mistreat these gentle souls. How can anyone betray such loyal, defenseless creatures who give us nothing but unconditional love?
Ladybird was one of those innocent puppies who discovered how cruel the world can be. The sweet fur baby was heartlessly abandoned and tied to a tree.
Cold and frightened, Ladybird stood quietly, her sorrowful eyes fixed on the nearby road. Despite her fear, her brave little heart held onto hope—hope that someone kind would notice her and offer the love she longed for.
Spotting A Defenseless Puppy

While driving down a Kentucky road, a passerby spotted a small brown and white pup sitting quietly by a tree. Slowing down for a closer look, they realized the poor fur baby was tied up. Heartbroken by the sight, they immediately contacted the Lewis County Animal Shelter.
Rescuers quickly responded to the call, heading straight to the location. With gentle hands, they freed the pup and brought her safely to the shelter.
“She was just so stoic, sitting there by the tree, patiently waiting for someone to notice her. I’m so thankful the shelter found her and took her in. She was actually found not far from the shelter,” Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals told The Dodo.
When the sweet pup, later named Ladybird, arrived at the shelter, she was frightened and uncertain about everything around her.
The staff quickly realized that the bustling shelter wasn’t the right place for such a tiny, fragile puppy. Ladybird needed comfort, affection, and a safe space to heal.

When Kim Desroches of Friends of Lewis County Animals saw Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s Facebook page, her heart sank.
The sweet pup was only six to seven weeks old—far too young to face such cruelty.
Desroches and the rescue staff were stunned. They couldn’t believe someone had tied up such a tiny, innocent puppy and walked away without a second thought.
Determined to help the sweet pup, Desroches made it her mission to find Ladybird a safe foster home. She knew the shelter environment could expose such a young, fragile puppy to various illnesses.

It didn’t take long for Desroches to find Ladybird a loving foster home, allowing her to leave the shelter behind.
Her new foster mom welcomed the delightful puppy with open arms, showering her with affection and care. Ladybird snuggled into the warmth of her new surroundings, finally feeling safe.
Love quickly chased away her fears, and the once-anxious pup blossomed into a relaxed, playful little soul.
After some time in her foster home, Ladybird’s rescuers arranged for her transfer to the Licking County Humane Society, a dedicated rescue in Ohio.

On January 27, 2024, the rescue shared heartwarming news on their Facebook page—Ladybird was officially pending adoption. Her journey from abandonment to a loving forever home was almost complete.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed, hoping Ladybird has found her happily ever after. She deserves a life filled with love, warmth, and care. Never again will she feel helpless or abandoned—only cherished, safe, and endlessly loved.
