No dog should ever face the pain of abandonment or the crushing heartbreak of being rejected by their humans. Astra and Luna, two sweet puppies longing for affection, were heartlessly discarded under a bridge beside overflowing trash.
The desolate, hungry puppies scoured the trash in search of anything edible. Every so often, they would lift their eyes toward the distance, as if hoping to catch a glimpse of their owner returning.
Unbeknownst to them, fate had a wonderful surprise in store—a kind young boy who would rescue them and envelop them in love.

A compassionate passerby spotted two helpless puppies waiting under a bridge and quickly contacted the Three Little Pitties Rescue.
Based in Texas, the rescue works tirelessly to find loving homes for street dogs across Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Virginia, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and Philadelphia.
As soon as Alayna, the rescue’s founder, received the call, she sprang into action, bringing her five-year-old son, Cash, along.
When they arrived, the puppies greeted them with wagging tails and bright, hopeful eyes. Touched by the scene, Cash turned to his mom and pleaded, “We have to save them.”
The puppies, soon named Luna and Astra, eagerly showered Cash with kisses as he gently scooped them up and carried them to his mom’s car. His face lit up with pure joy, knowing the fur babies were finally safe.

Astra and Luna quickly settled into the safety of the rescue ride, their eyes softening with love as their young hero cuddled them close.
Alayna couldn’t help but feel proud of her son’s compassion and determination to make a difference.
“I’ve been heavily involved in rescue for about seven years, and it’s inspired me to teach my son that we’re meant to care for the animals in this world—not ignore them,” Alayna shared with The Dodo.
Soon after, a dedicated rescue volunteer stepped up to foster the puppies. In their temporary home, Astra and Luna received plenty of love, learned good manners, and blossomed into perfect companions, ready for their forever families.

Two months later, Cash reunited with Astra and Luna. He scooped them into his arms, covering them with hugs and smiles. The boy’s eyes sparkled with joy as he marveled at how much the puppies had blossomed.
Equally excited, Astra and Luna wagged their tails furiously, showering their young rescuer with endless kisses. It was clear their bond remained unbreakable.
Both puppies soon found their perfect families and embarked on the journey to their forever homes, thanks to the rescue’s transport.
Astra’s new family had spotted her profile on the rescue’s website, and it was love at first sight. The moment they held her in their arms, their hearts melted completely.
They couldn’t wait to introduce her to her new furry sibling, Puck, and watch their bond grow.

Since Astra’s parents are avid hockey fans, they gave her a fitting new name—Zamboni.
Luna’s parents were equally smitten the moment they met her. The sweet pup eagerly embraced her fresh start, ready to fill her new home with love and joy.
