When the compassionate rescuers from Little Steps Matter saw Koda, they couldn’t turn away. This fragile pup was on the brink, suffering and barely clinging to life.
Ravaged by a severe skin disease and trembling from weakness, Koda was devastated. Emaciated and abandoned, he struggled for every breath, a victim of neglect and rejection.
“Dehydrated and emaciated, Koda’s frail body exposed every rib and bone. His sunken eyes reflected his suffering,” Little Steps Matter shared on Instagram.

Koda was too weak to hold his head up. He had shut down completely, avoiding eye contact with the rescuers, even as they tried to help him.
The compassionate volunteers gently scooped him up and rushed him to their safe house, where his journey to recovery began.
Given the severity of his condition, they weren’t sure if he would survive the night. But one thing was certain—they refused to give up on him!
Miraculous Transformation
At the clinic, Koda was diagnosed with a severe case of mange, along with fungal and bacterial skin infections. His frail body was covered in raw, crusty scabs and open wounds from head to tail.
Thanks to the swift action of the incredible LSM team, Koda’s life took an unexpected turn—for the better!
In a video shared on their official Instagram and TikTok, the organization documented his miraculous recovery, step by step.
“With all our care and support, he overcame the critical days. Our endless love worked its magic, bringing back the sparkle in his eyes and the joy in his heart,” LSM wrote.

With an IV for hydration and syringe feedings to nourish him, Koda’s frail body slowly regained the strength he had lost on the streets. Once his appetite returned, he was given a carefully planned diet, along with medications and antibiotics to fight infections and parasites.
What amazed the volunteers most was Koda’s astonishing transformation. As his new fur grew in, he looked like a completely different dog. Though still too weak for normal daily activities, his incredible recovery left everyone in awe.
Koda’s sleek, shiny black coat, paired with his sweet and lovable personality, quickly won over everyone at the facility.

Within just weeks at the safe house, Koda fully embraced his new life. He started socializing with other dogs and enjoyed daily walks with his caregivers.
With love and patience from the compassionate rescuers, Koda’s spark returned—and then, another miracle happened! A wonderful family reached out to LSM, eager to meet this resilient pup.
Tirza, Patrick, their son Moses, and their two dogs, Bami and Sosi, instantly fell in love with Koda. The connection was undeniable, and soon, he was off to his forever home.
Today, Koda is thriving, happier than ever with his loving family. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that love, dedication, and hope remain the greatest tools in rescuing a life.
