Despite countless warnings and appeals from rescue organizations, an increasing number of dogs are being abandoned to survive on the streets.
What’s even more heartbreaking is that many of these helpless animals have already suffered abuse or were left tied to a fence, defenseless against the many dangers around them.
Angel, a mother dog, faced a similar heartbreaking fate when she was abandoned and tied to a tree at Iglesia Park in Aliso Viejo, California. The one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky and German Shepherd mix was powerless to protect herself—let alone care for her seven puppies.
Fortunately, rescuers quickly discovered her and sprang into action, ensuring the safety of both Angel and her little ones.

After the successful rescue operation in Aliso Viejo, California, the mother dog and her puppies were taken to the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center for care.
Unfortunately, no one knew exactly how long they had been there or how they ended up abandoned in the park.
While the canine family was found safe and in good health, the City of Mission Viejo, CA – Local Government stated in a Facebook post that they had been left without food, water, or shelter. This suggests they hadn’t been there long before rescuers arrived just in time.

However, the situation could have taken a tragic turn, as numerous dangers lurked nearby. It was coyote mating season, a time when these predators frequently roam the city streets. Fortunately, the worst-case scenario was avoided.
The rescue center staff scanned Angel for a microchip, but she didn’t have one. Thankfully, she and her puppies appeared to be in good health, with no signs of previous abuse.
The center’s employees had nothing but praise for this brave mother.
“She rolls over in submission when getting pets and will crawl up into your lap for attention,” said Kelly Tokarski, public information specialist for the City of Mission Viejo, according to the Mission Viejo website. “Simply put, Angel is a great dog. She just needs a wonderful home to give her the love she deserves.”

Before Angel and her puppies could start their new journey, they received baths and vaccinations. In addition, the compassionate team from the Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) provided them with all the necessary medical supplies.
Thanks to the kindness and dedication of many, this canine family was given a chance to step into a brighter, happier future.
New Beginnings
The puppies had no trouble finding their furever homes, as each was adopted quickly. However, despite being just a young pup herself, Angel wasn’t as fortunate and had to wait a little longer for her perfect match.
Once again, the power of social media proved its ability to create positive change—and this time was no exception.
“Just 24 hours after Angel’s story aired on KNBC Channel 4 and went viral via the City’s social media, the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center experienced a surge in adoption applications for this sweet Siberian Husky-German Shepherd mix,” the City of Mission Viejo, CA – Local Government shared in their latest Facebook post.

Eventually, a loving family from Murrieta, California, had the honor of welcoming Angel into their home. After experiencing the loss of multiple beloved pets, Angel arrived as a comforting presence, bringing warmth and healing to their hearts.

Thanks to the compassion of many, Angel’s journey truly became a happily ever after.
