Sadly, not all dogs experience the love and loyalty they so freely give. Some are abandoned by the very people they trust the most.
Comfort was just three months old when her family heartlessly cast her out of the only home she’d ever known.
A kind-hearted passerby witnessed the heartbreaking scene and brought the tiny pup to a shelter in Los Angeles, California.
Scared and confused, Comfort huddled in the corner of her kennel, trembling with fear and heartbreak.
The Most Difficult Period Of Her Life

When the pup, later named Comfort, arrived at the shelter, she was malnourished, dehydrated, and covered in fleas. Despite the staff’s gentle efforts, she refused to eat.
Terrified and withdrawn, Comfort stayed huddled in the corner of her kennel, trembling uncontrollably. She avoided eye contact with the shelter staff and flinched whenever they tried to comfort her.
The shelter staff and volunteers were heartbroken to see Comfort so terrified and withdrawn.
Ashley Pittman, a dedicated volunteer at both the Los Angeles shelter and A Purposeful Rescue, a non-profit organization, wanted to help Comfort find a safe and loving foster home. She shared a video of the frightened pup on her Instagram account, hoping it would reach someone who could help.
The video quickly gained traction, was reposted on TikTok, and soon went viral.
One compassionate foster watched the video and immediately reached out to Pittman and A Purposeful Rescue. She expressed her desire to foster Comfort and let them know she was on her way to pick her up.
With the rescue’s help, Comfort was officially placed in the foster system, and her new foster mom welcomed her into her home with open arms. Determined to heal her emotional wounds, she promised to help Comfort overcome her fears and blossom into the happy, confident dog she was always meant to be.

The shelter environment had left Comfort feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Her foster mom understood that what the little pup needed most was time, patience, and a safe space to decompress.
In her first few days in her foster home, Comfort spent much of her time whimpering softly and hiding under a bed, seeking refuge from the world.
But her foster mom was gentle and patient, giving Comfort all the love and care she deserved. Slowly, with each passing day, the frightened pup began to realize she was finally safe.
With time, patience, and love, Comfort began to relax and feel safe in her new environment. Her once-fearful eyes now sparkle with hope and trust.
Every small tail wag and curious glance brings joy to her foster mom, who eagerly awaits the day Comfort’s true personality fully shines through.
