Any animal lover will tell you that the moment they see an animal in need, they’ll do whatever it takes to help.
This is especially true for shelters and rescues.
The team at Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue often gets calls about animals in tricky situations. Each time, they quickly gather their gear and head out to help.
It was no different when they received multiple calls about a pup found lying face down in a muddy ditch.
However, they soon realized that things were not quite as they seemed.
Urgent Call

As soon as the first call came in, the team of experienced rescuers rushed to the scene.
Within 20 minutes, they arrived and quickly spotted the animal—but something felt off.
When they moved in for a closer look, they realized their help wasn’t needed after all—because this wasn’t a dog at all.
“It was a statue! A statue that had already been ‘rescued’ by an onsite staff member!” the rescue shared in a Facebook post about the incident.
Despite the mix-up, the rescue team didn’t mind responding to the call.
In fact, a Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue representative expressed their appreciation for the concern, saying they were glad so many people reached out—especially since, in the end, it wasn’t an emergency, just a harmless misunderstanding.
“It’s always a relief when there isn’t an injured animal to tend to,” the representative told The Dodo.

Importance Of Rescuers
This unexpected “rescue” is a testament to the dedication of rescuers who are always ready to help animals in need.
All over the world, countless people devote their time, effort, and resources to show helpless animals that, with a little love and care, life is worth living.
And just like the rescuers in this story, they are always willing to go the extra mile to help.
So, I want to take a moment to thank every kind-hearted person who has ever lent a helping hand to an animal in need. Your compassion makes the world a better place.
Thank you—you are the real heroes!
