Mila, a 14-year-old mixed-breed dog, received her Christmas gifts 15 days early this year, lovingly presented by her owner, Tiffany Perkins.
While Mila was overjoyed by the surprise, blissfully unaware of the reason behind the early celebration, Tiffany’s emotions were bittersweet as she watched her furry friend revel in the moment.
According to Newsweek, Tiffany had been fostering Mila for about three months. The senior dog was discovered by a kind-hearted man named Edgar near an abandoned house. In heartbreaking condition, Mila was severely underweight and covered in mange when she was rescued.

Sadly, Mila’s struggles didn’t end there. A follow-up veterinary examination revealed heartbreaking news.
“When I took her to the vet, they did testing and found she had mammary tumors and lymphoma,” Tiffany shared, her voice trembling with emotion. “I had already grown so attached to her, so I decided to officially adopt her right there during that appointment.”
Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymph nodes and the lymphatic system. If left undiagnosed or untreated, it can progress rapidly. Tragically, this was the case for sweet Mila.

Mila’s prognosis was heartbreaking, but despite the devastating news, Tiffany poured her heart into making every moment count for her beloved senior dog.
“Our vet said we’d be lucky to see the end of the calendar year, but more likely just days to weeks when she was diagnosed three months ago,” Tiffany shared. “So I’m incredibly grateful for every day we have together. She’s a tough cookie to still be here, and I am so proud of her.”
