December is a special time of year, and if Bonnie could turn her barks into words, she’d surely agree!
This sweet street pup had a rough end to 2023. She was found wandering the streets of Oklahoma City with her best friend, Clyde.
These two were inseparable, spending every moment side by side. Even at the shelter, Bonnie and Clyde stayed loyal to each other—until the heartbreaking day they had to say goodbye for good.

There’s something incredibly touching about the way street dogs look out for one another. When Bonnie and Clyde were rescued by the kind team at Stillwater Animal Welfare in Oklahoma, they refused to be separated.
Most rescue dogs tend to drift apart as they settle into shelter life and gain independence, but not these two. Their unshakable bond and unwavering loyalty amazed everyone, and the team was thrilled to care for them as a pair.

Bonnie and Clyde’s past remains a mystery. They were found on the streets in rough shape, needing urgent care. Both dogs were diagnosed with heartworms and required extensive medical treatment to get back on their paws.
The good news? This inseparable duo responded to treatment remarkably well. In just a few days, they began to open up, showing their true, loving personalities.
Bonnie and Clyde quickly became the shelter’s sweethearts, showering everyone with affection and endless kisses— their way of saying thank you for a second chance at life.

Bonnie thrived during her first month at the shelter. Her team shared an update on Facebook, writing:
“Bonnie came to us as a stray with her brother and was never claimed… She is about 45 pounds. Bonnie is heartworm positive. She is good with other dogs so far and loves food.”
Just as Bonnie had fully settled in and started embracing her new life with Clyde, everything changed—her brother was adopted. He found a wonderful home with a loving family, but his departure left Bonnie heartbroken.
Without Clyde by her side, Bonnie completely shut down. She lay in her kennel, uninterested in everything around her, waiting for her brother to return.
“Bonnie is all alone since her brother got adopted, and she definitely misses having a sibling to cuddle with,” SAW shared on Facebook.
