This Pregnant Dog Was Almost Euthanized But Then Her Amazing Rescuers Came

There’s something deeply heartbreaking about overlooking dogs in need of help.

Consider how often people pass by an abandoned or stray dog, assuming someone else will step in to help.

This way of thinking is a serious issue—it’s widespread and needs to change. Helping a helpless dog doesn’t require much; all it takes is the willingness to take that first step.

In this story, we’ll share the journey of a pregnant dog abandoned at a shelter while in labor, desperately in need of a helping hand.

Bella’s Tragic Life

When Bella was first dumped in a shelter in California during her labor, her rescuers tried to help her as much as they could.

Due to problems with the labor, she underwent an emergency C-section, which meant that something was wrong.

Bella gave birth to four puppies, but only two of them survived. Hearing this is just so heartbreaking.

The organization who rescued her, Roadogs, found a foster parent in California for this poor dog and her babies, where they went right away.

Bella’s new foster mom, Dani Karlsson, wasted no time ensuring both Bella and her newborn puppies received the care they needed. She kept a close eye on them, providing constant support and attention.

Despite being exhausted from labor, Bella stayed as close to her puppies as she could, always wanting to be near them.

Karlsson shared with GeoBeats Animals, “I think Bella was very grateful to get some help with her puppies.”

Although Karlsson had other animals in the house, Bella was initially uneasy around them.

Over time, however, she began to understand that they meant no harm, and soon they started getting along wonderfully.

Bella’s healing journey has been remarkable. She’s much happier now, knowing that both she and her little family are safe and cared for.

Karlsson shared, “She did her first zoomie yesterday when I asked if she wanted to go for a walk. She’s really starting to show her personality more and more now.”

The puppies are still too young for adoption, but Karlsson plans to find them loving homes once they are at least 10 weeks old.

As for Bella, Karlsson is also searching for a wonderful family to give her a fresh start. However, she admits it won’t be easy to part with Bella, as she’s grown to love her deeply.
