From the moment Tiny Tater Tot arrived at Austin Animal Center in Texas, he captured the hearts of the shelter staff. He required extra care due to a severe case of mange, but despite his condition, he remained incredibly affectionate—craving nothing more than love.
With the shelter staff’s dedication, he received the treatment he needed and began his journey to healing.
Understanding that Tiny Tater Tot would recover more quickly in a home, the shelter staff worked hard to find him a foster family.
But their hearts sank when they saw him being overlooked time and time again—his skin condition causing potential adopters to turn away. No one was willing to give him the chance he desperately needed.
His caregivers, however, believed in him. They knew that with love and care, Tiny Tater Tot would thrive. All he needed was someone willing to see past his condition and give him the warmth of a real home.
Moving To A Loving Foster Home

Fortunately, a kindhearted couple, Sylvie and Martin, stepped forward to foster Tiny Tater Tot. At last, the little pup left the Austin shelter and entered a home filled with love and care.
Their hearts broke when they saw his tiny body covered in mange and the sadness in his eyes. Determined to help him heal, they surrounded him with the love and attention he had always longed for.
Because his skin condition was contagious, they had no choice but to keep him separated from his foster siblings. Even so, they made sure he never felt alone.

His foster parents created a cozy nook for him in their spare bathroom, ensuring he had a warm and comfortable space to rest. Throughout the day, they visited him often, offering encouragement, love, and the reassurance he needed to heal. To protect their other dogs, they wore protective clothing to prevent the spread of mange.
“Despite this sounding like a sad lifestyle, Tiny has been absolutely great. And, it’s much quieter and more enriching than a crate at the shelter,” Sylvie told The Dodo.
In the beginning, Tiny Tater Tot spent most of his time sleeping—a crucial part of his healing process. His foster parents understood that rest was essential for his recovery and patiently gave him the time and care he needed to regain his strength.

As the days passed, Tiny Tater Tot began to heal, and his transformation was remarkable. His once fragile body grew stronger, and his spirit shone brighter. The timid pup blossomed into an energetic and joyful companion, running eagerly into his foster parents’ arms whenever he saw them.
He adored snuggling with them, soaking up every bit of love they offered.
“He always greets me with tail wags and running around my feet. Every time I pick him up, he quickly calms down, and his favorite snuggle is to burrow his nose under my armpit,” Sylvie shared.
The Puppy Recovers And Finds His Forever Family

After a few weeks, Tiny Tater Tot had made a full recovery—mange-free and bursting with energy. He was thrilled to finally meet his foster siblings, and the sweet pup quickly bonded with everyone. Among them, he formed a particularly strong connection with Lucy, the adopted mama dog, who showered him with affection and care.
Thanks to the selfless love and dedication of his foster family, Tiny Tater Tot had transformed completely. Soon, his forever family found him and fell in love with the wonderful little pup. They couldn’t wait to welcome him into their home and give him the life he had always deserved.
Though he would miss his foster family and siblings, Tiny Tater Tot was ready for the happiest chapter of his life. In his new home, he would have two unique siblings—a potbellied pig and a Doberman—making for a lively and loving family.
Most of all, he couldn’t wait to cuddle with his new mom and share all the love in his heart. His biggest wish was finally coming true—he would have the forever home he had always dreamed of.
