From the moment Tiny Tater Tot arrived at Austin Animal Center in Texas, he captured the hearts of the shelter staff. He needed extra care due to a severe case of mange, but despite his condition, he remained incredibly affectionate—just longing for love.
With the staff’s dedication, he began receiving the treatment he needed, taking his first steps toward healing.
Knowing that Tiny Tater Tot would recover faster in a home, the shelter staff worked to find him a foster family.
But their hearts sank when they realized he was being overlooked because of his skin condition. Despite his affectionate nature, no one was willing to give him the chance he so desperately needed.
His caregivers, however, never lost faith in him. They knew that with love and care, he would thrive—he just needed someone to believe in him.
Moving To A Loving Foster Home

Fortunately, a kind-hearted couple, Sylvie and Martin, stepped up to become Tiny Tater Tot’s foster parents. The little pup finally left the Austin shelter and moved into a loving home.
When they first saw him, their hearts broke at the sight of his tiny body covered in mange and the sadness in his eyes. Determined to help him heal, they surrounded him with the love and care he had always longed for.
Since his skin condition was contagious, they had no choice but to keep him isolated from his foster siblings—but that didn’t stop them from giving him all the attention he needed.

His foster parents set up a cozy nook for him in their spare bathroom, ensuring he had a comfortable space to rest and heal. Throughout the day, they visited him often, showering him with love, encouragement, and gentle care. To prevent spreading the mange to their other pups, they wore protective clothing during each visit.
“Despite this sounding like a sad lifestyle, Tiny has been absolutely great. And, it’s much quieter and more enriching than a crate at the shelter,” Sylvie told The Dodo.
In the beginning, Tiny Tater Tot spent most of his time sleeping—a crucial part of his healing process. His foster parents understood that rest was just as important as the medical treatment he was receiving, and they patiently gave him all the time he needed to regain his strength.

As the days passed, Tiny Tater Tot slowly began to heal, and his appearance transformed. The once-weak pup blossomed into an energetic, joyful little dog. Every time he saw his foster parents, he would run straight into their arms, eager for their affection.
He quickly became a cuddle-loving companion, soaking up every bit of love they gave him.
“He always greets me with tail wags and running around my feet. Every time I pick him up, he quickly calms down, and his favorite snuggle is to burrow his nose under my armpit,” Sylvie shared.
The Puppy Recovers And Finds His Forever Family

After a few weeks, Tiny Tater Tot made a full recovery—he was finally mange-free. Overjoyed, he was ready to meet his foster siblings. The sweet pup fit right in, quickly forming a special bond with Lucy, the adopted mama dog, who showered him with affection and care.
Thanks to the selfless love and dedication of his foster family, Tiny Tater Tot had transformed completely. And soon, his journey led him to his forever family. The moment they met him, they fell in love with the wonderful little pup and knew he belonged with them.
Although he will miss his foster family and siblings, Tiny Tater Tot is thrilled to start the happiest chapter of his life. In his new home, he’ll have two unique siblings—a potbellied pig and a Doberman—to share his adventures with.
But most of all, he can’t wait to cuddle with his new mom and give her all the love in his tiny heart. His biggest wish is about to come true—he will finally have the forever love he’s always longed for.
